Indiana Announcement - Adjusters

The Indiana Insurance Department provides an early notice to temporary adjusters so they can continue to adjudicate claims. There has been a delay for adjusters to complete the applications for licensure electronically. It is suggested that adjusters go to NIPR and copy a Uniform Application. Complete the paper application and mail it in with a check: $90.00 for non-resident license, $40.00 for a resident license and $20.00 for a temporary emergency license. A final bulletin will be provided in the near future.

California Announcement - 11.17.2010

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has received several inquiries regarding a Notice that was emailed on Friday November 5, 2010 (attached). One of these changes is that effective January 1, 2011 fire and casualty broker-agents must also hold an accident and health agent license to continue to transact disability insurance. “Disability insurance” as it applies to this requirement are those lines of insurance contained in Section 1626(a)(2) of the California Insurance Code (CIC) which defines accident and health insurance as insurance coverage for sickness, bodily injury, or accidental death and may include benefits for disability income. Consequently, effective January 1, 2011 fire and casualty broker-agents who transact the lines of insurance noted in CIC Section 1626(a)(2) must also be licensed as an accident and health agent. Wisconsin licensees are now able to print their own license free of charge at www.oci.wi.gov. The same option is available at www.sircon.com/wisconsin following issuance or renewal of a license. The Wisconsin office is continuing to mail licenses to new applicants and those who renew their existing licenses for the next few months. Once the current supply of license stock is exhausted, Wisconsin will no longer print and mail licenses. The Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI) announces a new eServices option to assist insurers in filing and canceling a licensee’s financial responsibility (errors & omissions liability.) Effective immediately, this service allows Insurers to submit Form 99-1 Evidence of Errors & Omissions Liability, and Form 99-6 Insurer’s Assumption of Legal Liability. The eServices gateway also allows all Insurers to submit Form 99-5 for Cancellation of all types of Financial Responsibility. Insurers are required to complete these forms via online submission.

Effective November 1, 2009, the Rhode Island Insurance Division will no longer issue separate lines of authority under the Claims Adjuster license for Commercial and Personal. The North Carolina Agent Services Division has determined that due to an error while preparing this notification letter for mailing, non-resident self-employed adjusters only received an incorrect cancellation letter. District of Columbia Announcement - 09.21.2009

Effective October 1, 2009, Continuing Education (CE) functions will be transitioned from Pearson Vue to the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). DISB will begin managing CE functions in partnership with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) State-Based Systems (SBS).
During the transition to the new system, it is necessary for CE processing to be down temporarily from September 24 – 30, 2009.

NIPR reports that Oregon will begin requiring a background check charge for all resident license applications. NIPR will begin collecting this fee beginning October 1, and the Oregon Division will contact each applicant to collect fees for applications received between September 1 through September 30, 2009.

Wisconsin Announcement - 09.14.2009

Effective September 14, 2009, licensees will be able to print their own license at the Wisconsin web site. Wisconsin will continue to mail licenses to new applicants and those who renew their existing licenses for the next few months until the current supply of license stock is exhausted. Those persons without access to a computer will still be able to request a copy at https://ociaccess.oci.wi.gov/ProducerInfo/PrdInfo.oci.

Effective September 1, 2009, the California Department of Insurance Producer Licensing Bureau will only accept address change requests from its licensees through the Internet, either through its free online address change service or through NIPR's address change service.
