2/10/2010	North Carolina Announcement - 02.10.2010 North Carolina has issued an announcement regarding the renewal of producer and adjuster licenses with a biennial expiration date of April 1, 2010.
2/5/2010	North Carolina Announcement - 02.05.2010 North Carolina now uses the National Producer Number (NPN) as the unique license identifier number. Review the announcement for instructions on how to obtain the NPN, and the use of the NPN for CE transcripts and course credit submissions.

2/3/2010	Louisiana Announcement - 02.03.2010 Louisiana announces that the 2010-2011 company appointment renewal invoices are now available on NIPR's website and payment is due on or before March 1, 2010. Review the announcement for additional details.
2/3/2010	NIPR Announcement - 02.03.2010 NIPR announces that their ACH number has changed. Companies who use electronic checks may need to provide their financial institution with the new ACH number to avoid payment issues when submitting NIPR transactions. 2/2/2010	North Carolina Announcement - 02.02.2010 North Carolina releases three announcements that addresses: (1) the 2010-2011 appointment renewal due dates and processes; (2) revisions to specific ACORD forms effective January 22, 2010 for PC insurers writing commercial lines insurance products; and (3) the 2010-2011 license renewal notice and procedures for brokers, viatical settlement brokers, self-employed adjusters, public adjusters, motor vehicle damage appraisers, corporations, partnerships, auto rental and self-storage limited licenses.
1/27/2010	Nebraska Announcement - 01.27.2010 Nebraska announces that effective February 1, 2010, nonresident insurance producers may now renew their licenses online through NIPR up to 90 days prior to their expiration date. 1/26/2010	Wyoming Announcement - 01.26.2010 The Wyoming Insurance Department announces that the 2010 annual appointment renewal invoices will be generated on February 1, 2010, with payment due on March 31, 2010. 1/11/2010	Kentucky Announcement - 01.11.2010 Kentucky released a bulletin regarding a premium surchange rate adjustment. The monthly premium surcharge tax will increase from 1.5% to 1.8% effective 4/1/2010.

12/21/2009	Georgia Announcement - 12.21.2009 Effective January 1, 2010, Georgia announces changes to the resident application process that includes the elimination of the resident application sponsorship by the insurer, electronic fingerprints and online resident application filing at http://www.sircon.com/georgia. 12/21/2009	Virginia Announcement - 12.21.2009 Effective 12/21/2009, Virginia announces that producers can now apply for a resident license online through NIPR in addition to Sircon's Compliance Express. Effective January 10, 2010, nonresidents can begin paying the Virginia $15 continuance fee for the 2009-2010 biennium. This fee can be paid online and must be paid within the required timeframe or the license will terminate September 1, 2011.
12/18/2009	Pennsylvania Update - 12.18.2009 Effective December 16, 2009, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department has a new Web address and fresh new look at http://www.insurance.pa.gov.
12/14/2009	South Carolina Announcement - 12.14.2009 South Carolina is requesting all licensed insurers to provide SC with the contact information of the person(s) responsible for appointing producers in South Carolina. South Carolina also announces that agency license renewals begin January 1, 2010. Electronic renewal notices will be sent if current email addresses are on file. Effective 1/15/2010, the SC DOI will begin imposing a penalty fee to producers who have failed to notify SC of an address change by 12/31/2009. Review the announcements for further details.
12/10/2009	Missouri Announcement - 12.10.2009 Missouri is reminding agents who are licensed to sell title insurance in Missouri that continuing education will be required starting January 1, 2010.
12/10/2009	New York Announcement - 12.10.2009 New York reports that individuals seeking resident licenses from the New York Insurance Department must submit electronic fingerprints with their license applications beginning December 15th. Insurance agents and brokers are currently not required to submit fingerprints as part of their license applications, however, legislation has been recommended to require fingerprinting of agents and brokers.
12/10/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 12.10.2009 North Carolina announces that the NAIC Public Adjuster Licensing Model Act was adopted with an effective date of July 1, 2010. It includes a provision for proof of financial responsibility for both resident and nonresident public adjusters.

12/1/2009	Louisiana Announcements - 12.01.2009 Louisiana issues three bulletins regarding electronic submission requirements for Change of Address, appointments and terminations of insurance producers, and nonresident licensing and renewal requests - all effective January 1, 2010. Additionally, a bulletin regarding submittal of Consent-to-Rate Filings, A-Rated Filings and Individual Risk Rated Filings is also posted.
11/30/2009	Kentucky Announcement - 11.30.2009 Kentucky announces insurer appointment renewal procedures for appointment renewals due in 2010.
11/24/2009	California Announcement - 11.24.2009 California announces that AB 800 (Chapter 254, Statutes of 2009) Insurance Omnibus will become effective on January 1, 2010. This bill made several changes to the California Insurance Code (CIC) for the purpose of encouraging online filings from insurance producers and to bring California closer to uniformity with other states’ producer licensing laws.
11/24/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 11.24.2009 North Carolina has issued two announcements: (1) Surplus Lines licensees who failed to pay the license fee by August 31, 2009 will receive cancellation notices. (2) Effective January 1, 2010, North Carolina will require a valid email address from licensees.
11/20/2009	Florida Announcement - 11.20.2009 Florida announces that because of the computer system upgrades scheduled on November 25-29, 2009, there will be no access to any computer systems of the Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Agent & Agency Services during this time. All license applications and new, terminated or renewed appointment transactions will be pended until the systems are brought back online Monday, November 30, 2009. Applications for licensure submitted during or after this time period may not be processed for up to 20 business days after submission.
11/20/2009	N. Carolina-Adjuster Terminations 11.20.2009 The North Carolina Department of Insurance - Agent Services Division must receive terminations of adjuster appointments from ALL adjusting firms by February 1, 2010. Adjusting firms will be billed for those individuals showing appointments after February 1, 2010 on their 2010-2011 annual company appointment renewal invoice.
11/20/2009	N. Carolina-Producer Appt Renewal 11.20.2009 North Carolina announces that the 2010-2011 annual company appointment renewal billing must be done electronically by all insurance companies and motor clubs with NAIC numbers. Review the announcement for the process to follow for these renewals.
11/18/2009	Massachusetts Announcement - 11.18.2009 Effective January 4, 2010, Prometric, who currently maintains the continuing education database for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, will stop using Social Security numbers to identify licensees in the reporting process of continuing education credit hours. Continuing Education Providers will begin reporting continuing education credits via electronic roster submission, based upon the licensees’ Producer license numbers or Public Insurance Adjuster license numbers.

11/13/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 11.13.2009 Wisconsin announces that invoices for filing the required annual initial and renewal billings will be mailed on or shortly after January 15, 2010. All payments must be completed by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) at their Web site. Review the announcement to obtain instructions for renewal payment.

11/4/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 11.04.2009 Wisconsin licensees are now able to print their own license free of charge at www.oci.wi.gov. The same option is available at www.sircon.com/wisconsin following issuance or renewal of a license. The Wisconsin office is continuing to mail licenses to new applicants and those who renew their existing licenses for the next few months. Once the current supply of license stock is exhausted, Wisconsin will no longer print and mail licenses. Those persons without access to a computer will still be able to request a copy from the Wisconsin office
11/2/2009	Mississippi Announcement - 11.02.2009 The Mississippi Insurance Department sends a reminder of the new insurance producer law which goes into effect Nov. 1, 2009. The law provides for a two-year insurance producer license which assists the state in becoming compliant with the PLMA uniformity standards.
11/2/2009	Mississippi Announcement - Renewal Mississippi announces changes to its appointment renewal processes and dates. See announcement for additional information.
10/30/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 10.30.2009 The North Carolina Department of Insurance announces the conversion from social security number (SSN) as the unique license identifier to the National Producer Number (NPN) will be completed in early 2010. Using the NPN as the license number is the solution to preventing identity theft and addressing other security issues relative to use of the social security number.
10/30/2009	Utah Announcement - 10.30.2009 The Utah Insurance Department, in conjunction with Sircon, has arranged for Utah resident producers to take advantage of a new personal compliance web-based tool, called ProducerEDGE. This service is available to Utah producers at no additional charge effective November 9, 2009.
10/21/2009	Kentucky Announcement - 10.21.2009 The Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI) announces a new eServices option to assist insurers in filing and canceling a licensee’s financial responsibility (errors & omissions liability.) Effective immediately, this service allows Insurers to submit Form 99-1 Evidence of Errors & Omissions Liability, and Form 99-6 Insurer’s Assumption of Legal Liability. The eServices gateway also allows all Insurers to submit Form 99-5 for Cancellation of all types of Financial Responsibility. Insurers are required to complete these forms via online submission.
10/21/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 10.21.2009 North Carolina has made changes to the state fee collection process for public adjusters which impact both the initial license application fee and the annual license fee. In addition, effective January 30, 2010, the NC Agent Services Division will no longer require an appointment to a public adjusting company for public adjuster licenses.
10/20/2009	Kentucky Announcement - 10.20.2009 Beginning with the 2009 Local Government Premium Tax Annual Reconciliation (which is to be submitted on or before 03/31/2010), the Department of Insurance will mandate that the annual reconciliation be submitted electronically to the Department. Documentation on how to submit electronically may be found on the Department of Insurance website by accessing: http://insurance.ky.gov/kentucky/ALSearch/Rateform/Docs.aspx?DivID=10.
10/20/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 10.20.2009 The Agent Services Division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance now accepts documents and notices through NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. 10/13/2009	California Announcement - 10.13.2009 Beginning with licenses that will expire on December 31, 2009, the California Department of Insurance (CDI) will no longer mail renewal notices to individuals and business entities licensed through CDI’s Producer Licensing Bureau. Instead, CDI will email licensees a renewal notification to their email address on record. See the complete announcement available at www.sila.org.

10/6/2009	Connecticut Announcement - 10.06.2009 Connecticut announces the increase of producer license and renewal fees effective October 1, 2009. A new fee chart is included with the announcement.
10/5/2009	Alabama Announcement - 10.05.2009 Effective October 1, 2009, Alabama Department of Insurance will begin the 2010 Annual Renewal process for Adjusters, Surplus Line Broker and Surplus Line Broker Business Entity, and Risk Purchasing Groups. These license holders need to go to the Alabama DOI website, www.aldoi.gov, and under Quick Links choose, Renew Your License, and follow the instructions. Prelicensing and Continuing Education Providers should also renew online through the department website.
10/2/2009	Rhode Island Announcement- 10.02.2009 Effective November 1, 2009, the Rhode Island Insurance Division will no longer issue separate lines of authority under the Claims Adjuster license for Commercial and Personal. These will be combined into one line of authority for Property/Casualty Adjusters. Worker’s Compensation will continue to be a separate line of authority on the Claims Adjuster license. All current Claims Adjuster Licensees that hold the lines(s) of authority for Personal and/or Commercial will be transitioned to Property/Casualty line of authority.

9/29/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 09.29.2009 Self-employed adjusters licensed in North Carolina were sent notification of their license cancellation. The North Carolina Agent Services Division has determined that due to an error while preparing this notification letter for mailing, non-resident self-employed adjusters only received an incorrect cancellation letter. Refer to the announcement to determine what corrective action will take place.
9/21/2009	District of Columbia Announcement - 09.21.2009 Effective October 1, 2009, Continuing Education (CE) functions will be transitioned from Pearson Vue to the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). DISB will begin managing CE functions in partnership with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) State-Based Systems (SBS). During the transition to the new system, it is necessary for CE processing to be down temporarily from September 24 – 30, 2009.
9/21/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 09.21.2009 Wisconsin will no longer be accepting Non-Resident Renewal applications from NIPR for the 10 days preceding the license expiration date. Non-Resident Renewals will only be available from 60 days prior to the expiration date to 10 days prior to the expiration date. This change will take effect with the November 2009 renewals. Anyone renewing during the last 10 days of a renewal period must go to www.sircon.com/wisconsin for processing in real-time.
9/17/2009	Kentucky Announcement - 09.17.2009 The Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI) is announcing a new eServices option to assist insurers following a Kentucky DECLARED Catastrophic Event. Effective immediately, insurers can submit a list of unlicensed adjusters (those licensed in other states but not in Kentucky) through the company’s secure eServices account. 9/17/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 09.17.2009 The North Carolina Agent Services Division has cancelled the licenses required to pay a license renewal fee by April 1, 2009 for the 2009-2010 license period. The following license types were cancelled effective 3/31/2009 for non-payment: 1. Individual licenses for Self-Employed Adjusters, Brokers, Viatical Settlement Brokers, and Motor Vehicle Damage Appraisers. 2. Business Entity licenses for Corporations, Partnerships, Auto Rental Limited Lines Licenses, and Self-service Storage Limited Licenses.
9/16/2009	South Carolina Announcement - 09.16.2009 South Carolina has released a bulletin addressing signficant producer licensing changes that implement additional segments of the NAIC standard. The changes affect: 1. Fees for licenses, 2. Continuing Education requirements, and 3. Insurance Producer licensing duration and renewal requirements.
9/14/2009	Oregon Announcement - 09.14.2009 NIPR reports that Oregon will begin requiring a background check charge for all resident license applications. NIPR will begin collecting this fee beginning October 1, and the Oregon Division will contact each applicant to collect fees for applications received between September 1 through September 30, 2009.
9/14/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 09.14.2009 Effective September 14, 2009, licensees will be able to print their own license at the Wisconsin web site. Wisconsin will continue to mail licenses to new applicants and those who renew their existing licenses for the next few months until the current supply of license stock is exhausted. Those persons without access to a computer will still be able to request a copy at https://ociaccess.oci.wi.gov/ProducerInfo/PrdInfo.oci.
9/11/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 09.11.2009 North Carolina has three announcements dealing with: 1. Adoption of the NAIC Uniform Appointment Process, 2. A chart to determine CE deadlines for North Carolina residents for the 3-hour Ethics and Flood requirements (if applicable), and 3. The appointment fee correction invoices that will be mailed the week of September 14th. See the announcement on SILA's webpage for more information regarding each of the above topics.

8/21/2009	California Announcement - 08.21.2009 Effective September 1, 2009, the California Department of Insurance Producer Licensing Bureau will only accept address change requests from its licensees through the Internet, either through its free online address change service or through NIPR's address change service. Address change requests consist of changes to mailing, business, and resident addresses and resident and business telephone numbers.
8/20/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 08.20.2009 For individuals not required to pass the state exam, North Carolina requests the use of the online application when applying for an adjuster's license and discourages paper applications. Review the bulletin to determine where and how to apply online in addition to the link to the 2009 CAT adjuster bulletin.
8/18/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 08.19.2009 Effective September 1, 2009, there will be a new line of insurance for variable life and variable annuity authority in Wisconsin. Review the bulletin for the transition process, and how to apply for the variable licenses and appointments.
8/10/2009	Alaska Announcement - 08.10.2009 Alaska issues bulletin regarding compliance with record requirements in relation to suitability in annuity transactions, life insurance and annuity replacements and disclosures.
8/10/2009	North Dakota Announcement - 08.10.2009 North Dakota announces producer renewal and continuing education requirement changes to become effective January 1, 2010. Also, Surplus Lines and consultant initial licensing fees and renewal fees have changed effective July 1, 2009.
8/7/2009	Montana Announcement - 08.07.2009 Montana has published procedures for Surplus Lines submission form filings and proposed amendments to administrative rules. Review the information at www.sila.org. It will also be placed on SILA's Surplus Lines webpage.

8/5/2009	Pennsylvania Announcement - 08.05.2009 The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has released a "Request for Proposal (RFP INS2009-02) for the Administration of Licensing Examination and Education Services" to be provided to the Department. Interested vendors should access additional information on the RFP from the websites listed in the attachment found on SILA's website.
7/29/2009	Connecticut Announcement - 07.29.2009 Effective September 1, 2009, Prometric will be the new prelicense exam and continuing education vendor for the state of Connecticut. Review the transition plan in the Connecticut announcement available at www.sila.org.
7/28/2009	Ohio Announcement - 07.28.2009 Ohio Department of Insurance has a new web site address: www.insurance.ohio.gov. The old web address, http://www.ohioinsurance.gov, will eventually be shut down in place of the new address.
7/23/2009	Wisconsin Announcement - 07.23.2009 Wisconsin announces changes to their agent licensing requirements that conform to the NAIC Model regulation. Changes include new lines of authority, self-study and correspondence course credit allowances to meet the prelicensing education requirement, and a resident fingerprint requirement. An additional change is to raise the agent application and renewal fees, and the annual company appointment fees. Review the announcement for additional details regarding these changes.
7/22/2009	Rhode Island Announcement - 07.13.2009 Effective July 1, 2009, Rhode Island has increased the license fee for Claims Adjusters and Appraisers. Review the notice that is available at www.sila.org.
7/10/2009	South Carolina Announcement - 07.10.2009 South Carolina requires all producers licensed in South Carolina to renew their licenses biennially and pay a $25 renewal fee through an online renewal application. No paper renewal applications will be processed. The producer renewal period begins July 1, 2009 and ends November 1, 2010. Refer to the attached bulletin for additional details.
7/9/2009	Alabama Announcement - 07.09.2009 Alabama has posted new license examination outlines on their website. The new examinations for life and health licenses will begin on August 1st. The new examinations for the property and casualty insurance licenses will be released on September 1st.
7/9/2009	New Hampshire Announcement - 07.09.2009 New Hampshire has eliminated retaliatory fees for adjuster licenses. The fee for initial, renewal and reinstated licenses are contained in the announcement, along with a reminder of the upcoming 2009 adjuster renewals.
7/9/2009	New Jersey Announcement - 07.09.2009 New Jersey announces a premium tax rate change on surplus lines insurance from three to five percent. Review the bulletin for more details.
7/9/2009	Pennsylvania Announcement - 07.09.2009 Pennsylvania is in the process of converting all insurance producer licenses to a birth month renewal for licenses that renew in January 2010 and thereafter. More information will be forthcoming in the next few months.
7/6/2009	Nevada Announcement - 07.06.2009 Nevada announces a new Insurance Administration and Enforcement fee that became effective on May 29, 2009. Any license issued on or after May 29, 2009 must be accessed this new fee and invoices will be mailed by the Division. Review announcement for more details.
7/2/2009	Arizona Announcement - 07.02.2009 Arizona Governor Brewer signed House Bill 2643 into law, which, in part, provides the Department of Insurance an appropriation for Fiscal Year 2010. The Department of Insurance will be closed on July 3, 2009, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
7/2/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 07.02.2009 The North Carolina Agent Services Division has cancelled all company appointments for companies that failed to pay the 2009-2010 appointment renewal billing invoice due April 1, 2009. No new appointments will be issued until all outstanding invoices have been paid. Refer to the North Carolina announcement for additional details.
7/1/2009	Arizona Announcement - 07.01.2009 Due to ongoing budget negotiations, the Arizona Department of Insurance may be closed for business beginning July 1, 2009, which means that customer service and licensing will be unavailable until operations resume.
7/1/2009	Iowa Announcement - 07.01.2009 Effective July 1, 2009, Iowa will no longer mail a paper renewal reminder notice for a producer's insurance license. Also effective July 1st, Iowa will no longer print or mail licenses. A license may be printed from Iowa's website. Iowa also announces that it is now accepting attachments through the Attachment Warehouse.
7/1/2009	North Carolina Announcement - 07.01.2009 The North Carolina Surplus Lines license renewal application and fee payment will be required to be done electronically.
