SILA will be celebrating its 20th national education conference on October 24-28, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s the ‘must- attend’ national event where SILA members come together to gain valuable insight from peers, subject matter experts, exhibitors and regulators. The theme for this year’s conference is Past Forward, Vision for the Future, where we will celebrate successes of the past, and look forward with a shared vision for the efficiencies that uniformity, technology and streamlined regulation will bring to our industries. Announcements
Arizona Announcement - 07.02.2009

Arizona Governor Brewer signed House Bill 2643 into law, which, in part, provides the Department of Insurance an appropriation for Fiscal Year 2010. The Department of Insurance will be closed on July 3, 2009, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

North Carolina Announcement - 07.02.2009

The North Carolina Agent Services Division has cancelled all company appointments for companies that failed to pay the 2009-2010 appointment renewal billing invoice due April 1, 2009. No new appointments will be issued until all outstanding invoices have been paid. Refer to the North Carolina announcement for additional details.

Arizona Announcement - 07.01.2009

Due to ongoing budget negotiations, the Arizona Department of Insurance may be closed for business beginning July 1, 2009, which means that customer service and licensing will be unavailable until operations resume.

Iowa Announcement - 07.01.2009

Effective July 1, 2009, Iowa will no longer mail a paper renewal reminder notice for a producer's insurance license. Also effective July 1st, Iowa will no longer print or mail licenses. A license may be printed from Iowa's website. Iowa also announces that it is now accepting attachments through the Attachment Warehouse.

North Carolina Announcement - 07.01.2009

The North Carolina Surplus Lines license renewal application and fee payment will be required to be done electronically.

Oklahoma Announcement - 06.29.2009

Oklahoma will increase the biennial appointment fees from $40 to $55 effective July 1, 2009.

Virginia Announcement - 06.29.2009

Virginia will be mailing company annual renewal appointment invoices and quarterly invoices on July 1, 2009. All remittances will be due August 10, 2009. More information is available in the Virginia announcement.

Nevada Announcement - 06.25.2009

Nevada will be increasing license and renewal fees effective July 1, 2009. Review announcement for specific fee changes.

Montana Announcement - 06.24.2009

Montana's Department of Insurance will take over the operations of the Surplus Lines Stamping Office, beginning July 1. Previously, the Montana Surplus Lines Agent's Association has been responsible for the operation of the Surplus Lines Stamping Office. New Mexico Announcement - 06.17.2009

Effective June 30, 2009, the New Mexico Agent Licensing Bureau will no longer collect the $3.00 surcharge for appointments and affiliations. Please review the announcement for the revised appointment and affiliation fees.

North Dakota Announcement - 06.17.2009

North Dakota announces fee changes for Surplus Lines and Consultant licenses effective July 1, 2009. In addition, North Dakota will be changing the producer license renewal and CE process effective January 1, 2010. Read the attachment for more details.

Kentucky Announcement - 06.05.2009

Kentucky submitted a reminder of the changes to the continuing education and provider reporting requirements that went into effect the beginning of 2009. Also, Kentucky announces their new website and email address. See the announcement for details.

Washington Announcement - 06.05.2009

The Office of the Insurance Commissioner in the State of Washington will temporarily shut down its licensing services to allow time for system conversion. The outage will occur at 5 PM PST on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 and end at approximately 1 PM PST on Thursday, July 2, 2009. During this scheduled outage, Washington will NOT be able to process submitted paper applications or online requests. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during our conversion process. Iowa Announcement - 06.04.2009

Effective July 1, 2009, Iowa will begin charging retaliatory appointment fees based on the appointer's state of domicile. Refer to the announcement for the state fee chart.

Nevada Announcement - 06.03.2009

Nevada warns of a scam targeting insurance agents where individuals are representing themselves as Nevada Insurance Department employees and demanding credit card information for payment of penalty fees. See the announcement for additional information.
